ID PEOPLE PART I | SESSION AUG2019
BACKGROUND
This project is designed as an ARTISANS’ WORKPLACE. Through designing for others, we are able to understand specific activities, their requirements and ergonomics as well.
I decided to design a workplace for jewellery artisans due to the younger generation has a large population interested in jewellery but they have little access to the production process. Thus, I believe that giving them a better understanding and experience of the process would help them to value jewellery more.
RESEARCHES ON JEWELLERY
To ensure the potential and direction of a jewellery workshop, I studied its history, materials and what it can be. In order to design a suitable and comfortable workplace, a better understanding of the background, the working requirement and workflow is a MUST.
LOCATION
The proposal site is located at INTI International College Subang. It's conspicuous because the location is facing the main exit of SS15 and nearby the main entrance and exit of the campus. Sometimes, there would held events on the right-hand side of the site.
PROPOSAL

In my opinion, to link back to the site, the target audience could be students of INTI. They are still at an age where they have no financial resources of their own but want to try things. Thus, I suggest providing customize services, tutorial workshops and counter displays as an attractive method.
BUILDING PROGRAM
The site was designed to be separated into the public area, semi-public area and private area. The exhibition area and the consulting area is placed in the public area which is near the main entrance and the corner that easy to attract passerby. Next to it is the semi-public area which is proposed to encourage students to attend jewellery workshops. Going over again is the private area which is designed to support workers to work here and the outcomes would be displayed at the exhibition area or the customize products would be kept properly in the cabinet below the reception counter.
MOOD BOARD
In my understanding, jewellery is originally part of nature, thus I decided to adopt a little bit of natural elements in the design style such as Coastal and Nordic. I then decided on the Nordic style between both of them, because just like the jewellery, they need to be processed in order to become more valuable.
