HISTORY

The word jewellery is an anglicized form of the Latin word, jocale which means plaything history says that about 40,000 years back, the first jewellery was worn by the Cro-Magnons, ancestors of Homo sapiens. Their jewellery included crude necklaces and bracelets made of bone, teeth and stone stitched to animal sinew.

The Greeks started using gold and gems in jewellery in 1600 BC, although beads shaped as shells and animals were produced widely in earlier times. Around 1500 BC, the main techniques of working gold in Greece included casting, twisting bars, and making wire.

OPINION ON MATERIALS (JEWELLERY)

Due to the location being placed inside the college, therefore the main target customers will be students. Based on their consumption level, I prefer to use sterling silver and some rhinestone as the materials. On the other hand, silver materials are valuable, good in plasticity, easy to process, easy to obtain, and the related technology is quite mature, suitable for commercial production. Besides, sterling silver won't cause skin sensitivity, it's suitable for everyone.

I think my chosen craft can benefit from the work environment of the future because it's popular in the younger generation and it can be many functions like as a present or accessories there can bring to anywhere. I prefer to introduce fluorescence to my chosen trade because we still can look at them in a dark environment. Therefore, we can find it quickly if it is lost.
